It's already the end of June! Yikes!

Summertime is in full swing here in the Lone Star state! HOT and HUMID! I'm trying to be grateful for the sunshine after all that rain that we have received here. I haven't posted for a while and feeling a bit guilty. I am however, still painting! The piece that I am working on is very large, 36 x 48. The biggest piece I've ever attempted. I need something to hang over my fireplace! Something that I cannot finish in a few days. I will post some pics of my new work in progress soon. Before that time, here is one that I just signed. Have a Happy 4th of July!

God interveined!

It's amazing how God uses our problems for His glory.
A few weeks ago I wrote about having "painters block". Serious block....
25 Project came into the picture. I decided to challenge myself to paint something to benefit this wonderful organization through a donation to a silent auction. I kind of came into this at the last minute...Wow, a daily painting, kind of! It ended up being a 3 day painting, but I think that counts, don't you?
I received a photo from the organization of the actual people that are in this painting for this reference. One of the ladies is named Salone. Sure would love to meet her one day.
Check out the website http:\\25project.org. This organization fights for those who can't fight for themselves, with the love of Christ. Such dedication.
The painting sold at a silent auction to benefit the organization. I'm so happy that I could do something that might help these people, abandoned by man but found in Christ and those who love Him. I'm overwhelmed at His goodness.
I'm looking forward to doing more things like this. All I can say is, God blessed me in this endeavor. I hope you get the opportunity to do something like this someday.
On to the next challenge that God has for me.

Painter's Block and it's only May!!

I have painter's block....I just stand and look at my canvas! I know that paint won't automatically jump on the canvas, but sure wish it would. Recently I started to paint a bit tighter than I think I should and that has turned into confusion and doubt. I forgot how to paint! Yikes! I know that sounds so silly, but it's true. I'm hoping for a breakthrough any day now. Any ideas?

In the meantime, here is a painting I finished in April.

Fast and Loose or Tight and Detailed? Maybe I'm somewhere in between.

Learning to paint quickly has become more difficult all of a sudden. I'm finding myself falling back into that "refining" mode. You know, painting, repainting and then putting way too much time and too much detail for this daily painting challenge. I'm sure it has something to do with control and perfection...we'll leave that to a professional :-}

Here is the latest attempt. I just couldn't let it go! It still looks somewhat loose, but it took way to long to get there. Bear with me, I will get that fast and loose thing going again soon! Don't get me wrong, I like detail....love detail...lots of detail, but painting quickly is what I need to learn, to be able to let it go and actually finish and sign something. "Let go and Let God" is what I am being reminded of. Give it to the greatest psychiatrist!  I need that reminder everyday.

Happy April...Happy Spring!!

Love this weather!
Back from Seattle ready to pick up my paint brush again!
My challenge on this painting was the colored glass. Could I paint something so transparent?
Why did it seem like it would be so hard?
Turns out, shapes and color is all it is....just like everything else.
Do you think I pulled it off?

Green Apple Mood.....

My husband built me a still life stage! I'm in a green apple painting mood these days....at least that's all I could find in the fridge! You can read anything you'd like into that.
